NMC Designs Website for Planet Aid
New Media Campaigns recently designed a website for Planet Aid, a national non-profit organization that collects used clothing and shoes, and redistributes the items to people in need throughout the world. Planet Aid aims to help impoverished communities globally, and to protect the environment by recycling used clothing and shoes.
The site design reflects the organization’s global reach and environmental focus. The homepage rotation features images of communities around the world, and watercolor-like blend of green and blue in the background evokes thoughts of the earth and environment. The client requested that the designers at NMC highlight the organization’s DROP acronym. The homepage features a custom graphic that users can pass their mouse over to expand each letter, and learn more about each item.
The website was built on the HiFi Content Management System, and includes several custom features that allow visitors to easily access information. The Countries map utilizes Google Maps’ API to place pins on all of the countries that Planet Aid serves. Clicking on a pin allows users to access more information about that particular country. The Find a Bin tool is a zip code search tool that allows visitors to find local drop-off bins.
Planet Aid has several offices in the United States. NMC created the Your Local Planet Aid pages to allow each domestic Planet Aid office to update news, information, and employment opportunities relating to each office. The Request a Receipt tool allows donors to fill in their information, and get an email and printable receipt for their donation for tax purposes. NMC is proud to have worked with Planet Aid, and believes that website will allow the organization to continue to grow and help people throughout the world.
