We were thrilled to learn last week that one of our team’s favorite site redesigns to date — Hutchison PLLC — had been named a Lawyerist’s Best Law Firm Site of 2016! This honor is especially exciting for legal marketing junkies like me, who religiously follow the online legal resource’s posts.
The honor means a lot to us, but it wouldn't have been possible without our great partners at Hutchlaw. Hutch has been a client of ours for years, and we were excited to take on the task when they approached us to start on a website redesign to better position the firm as a modern leader in the space.
The team from Hutch delighted us all — especially our designers — when they encouraged us to push the lines of the traditional, stoic law firm site, and asked that we create something fresh and engaging for their target audience of entrepreneurs and investors. Hutch wanted to pull visitors into the site visually, and immediately establish themselves as a legal resource for a potential clients through outstanding content. By holding this tenet foremost in the design, our team developed a modern site that utilizes a great deal of photography to create an immersive feel for visitors.
There were a number of ways we were able to use design to connote the modern and entrepreneurial mission of the firm. We eschewed a traditional menu and went to a simple hamburger menu in the top right. The first thing visitors see when they land on the page is a large duotone image that puts the firm's mission upfront. We used image-based grids to present the different practice areas and bring the News feed to life in a way that a simple column of news couldn't. All of those flourishes were reinforced with modern typography and motifs like the orange lines that are carried out throughout the site.
And of course, every element is built responsively so it looks great on every device from phone to tablet to desktop.
Here at NMC, we’ve worked with clients around the country on creating fresh and innovative law firm website designs, but it's really nice to be honored by such a pioneering group as Lawyerist. Lawyerist first developed as an online resource for lawyers in 2007, and has established a reputation as an authority on all things legal technology, marketing and practice management, especially for solo and small-firm attorneys worldwide. We love their mission of helping law firms stay ahead of the curve with technology and digital marketing, and our respect for them makes the honor even sweeter.
