Interfaith Worker Justice
Interfaith Workers Justice came to New Media Campaigns in need of a new website to strengthen and spread their mission to organize, advocate, and educate in support of economic justice and worker rights at the local, state and national levels.
The size of IWJ’s network is pretty impressive, including nearly 30 worker centers, 40 interfaith groups, and thousands of E-advocates. In order to successfully maintain and expand a network of this magnitude, IWJ needed a complex, well-organized site. With this in mind, the NMC team equipped the site with unique features and expert design that is sure to stimulate new interest, maintain meaningful relationships with existing supporters, and deliver the necessary resources and tools to advocates.
The friendly design welcomes the viewer. Huge, colorful photographs in the homepage rotation take center stage with unique calls to action in the captions asking visitors to “honor a worker for labor day weekend” or “meet us on the jobs tour” for example. The color combination of violet and blue is bold and inviting. Each page is lined with blue sky, suggesting hope and possibility for the admirable mission of this religious nonprofit organization.
The site, packed with useful information, includes an Issues page that outlines the core focus of IWJ and a Resources page that organizes free, downloadable documents by category. The Get Involved tab centralizes the various calls to action throughout the site so that supporters can easily find their preferred way of contributing to the organization’s mission.
Overall, the user-experience is highly personalized. The Network page provides a link to a map, allowing visitors to select their state to find Worker Centers and Interfaith Groups in their area. This map is also offered with the “Do You Need Help?” feature on the homepage.
Social Media integration is yet another strong point for this site. The site utilizes Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube as well as a blog which can be easily updated on the HiFi Content Management System. The “Watch This…” section at the bottom of the homepage displays YouTube videos of relevant news stories.
