Our Work

Tar Heel Monthly

When the Tar Heel Monthly tweeted that they were offering UNC basketball tickets in exchange for a new website, New Media Campaigns was instantly intrigued.  Founded by UNC alumni, NMC felt their experience as dedicated UNC fans made them perfect for the job.  NMC is proud to add this website to the list of work NMC has done for UNC-related organizations

THM’s current site was pretty limited, primarily serving as a way to subscribe to the monthly magazine.  They wanted a more dynamic site that UNC fans would regularly visit. In order to capture this audience on a daily basis, NMC designed and developed a website with a breadth of features and content to involve fans and keep them coming back for more.

Since it is crucial to offer fresh, new material daily to maintain this level of attention, NMC designed unique features to allow THM to easily update their site.  The filterable news feed on the homepage showcases a variety of news found throughout the site including tweets from @TarHeelMonthly and UNC athletes.  This news feed also pulls from What We’re Reading.  This news feed is supported by custom built tool that NMC designed to make sharing interesting articles on the web quick and easy for THM!  By clicking on the bookmarklet for this tool, THM can enter a quick description and click share to send the article directly to the homepage newsfeed, sidebar feed, and Gameday page.  In fact, the tool was so successful that we designed one for NMC’s website as well!

The Gameday page is another feature that will keep the site engaging and up-to-date.  On this page, UNC fans can fill out a form offering suggestions for questions for THM’s post-game interviews with athletes.  The page also keeps fans involved with a feed that displays tweets with the hashtag #uncgameday.  NMC knows first-hand that the day of a big game is prime time for fans to read about UNC sports and is confident that this page will increase THM’s popularity by tapping into the excitement.

The site features the new blog, THM Daily, yet another strategy to keep the site from going stale.  Updating this blog frequently will provide more content for search engines to index, ultimately increasing traffic to the site!
