North Carolina Community Foundation

Case Study: A Website Redesign for NC’s Statewide Community Foundation

The North Carolina Community Foundation is a statewide community foundation that focuses on rural North Carolina.

Since its founding in 1988, NCCF has awarded more than $270 million in grants and scholarships and currently maintains over 1,200 active funds. Driven by the belief that permanent philanthropy strengthens communities and people, NCCF stewards and grows donors' gifts to make a powerful impact across the state. The foundation also includes a network of 53 affiliates in 60 counties that make grants to local causes through their community grantmaking funds. After guiding NCCF through several nonprofit website design iterations over the past decade-plus, we were excited to continue our partnership and give the site a fresh new look.

User-Friendly Details

Designed to be user-friendly and intuitive, the website is an essential resource for new and returning users. An interactive state map makes it easy to explore NCCF’s regional efforts, and landing pages for fundholders, professional advisors, nonprofits, and students offer audience-specific details and staff contacts.

Powered by WordPress

Behind the scenes, one important piece of the project was migrating the website to a WordPress content management system. User-friendly and robust, WordPress was the right choice for NCCF because it offers a high level of control over page elements and the ability to scale the site easily. Using a library of pre-styled blocks, admins can update existing content, create new layouts, and add calls-to-action to advertise events, reports, and more.

Ongoing Design, Strategy & Marketing Support

Beyond the website, we support NCCF’s marketing team by designing custom print materials and digital assets. Recent projects have included print and digital impact reports, logo designs for special initiatives, and a suite of one-pagers on various programs and offerings.
