2024 in Review
Highlights, Updates, and Year-End Reflections from NMC
It’s that time of year again! As we wind down for the holidays and send a few final projects out into the world, we like to take a look back at the last 12 months and share a recap of highlights, company news, and memorable website launches.
You could say that our word of the year was “process.” Beginning in January, we took a close look at our workflow – from client onboarding to design through development – to identify areas where we could build efficiency, add value, and refine transitions. In terms of design and development, that meant implementing a new system rooted in Figma’s rapidly growing component, variable, and mode capabilities. On the project management side, we built better frameworks for presenting strategy and data findings and scheduled regular check-ins for the team to share knowledge and best practices.
For more structured education and professional development, we attended virtual and in-person conferences. At Figma’s ConFig, Triangle UXPA’s UX Y’All, Fleurix, and WordPress Accessibility Day, our team explored new strategies for collaboration and learned about industry hot topics like animation, accessibility, and of course, AI. We also connected for dozens of company lunches and happy hours to build community within our hybrid team.
And on the websites! This year, we launched 57 new sites across an engaging mix of industries. We built complex interactive maps for higher ed institutions, rebranded impactful nonprofits, produced award-winning AEC sites, and so much more. We also designed dynamic annual reports, suites of brand collateral, custom animations, and initiative-specific landing pages and campaigns. And through our agency partnership program, we had the opportunity to work with new and old friends at Franklyn, Three Ships, Circle Studio, and Echo Factory.
It was a great year full of exciting projects and partnerships, and we’re excited to share a selection of work below.

Nonprofit Website Design
With 24 launches, nonprofit website design made up our biggest category of work in 2024. We partnered with organizations that focus on a wide range of issues at the local, national, and international level.
Some highlights included creating dynamic brands for Voices for Virginia's Children, ProJourn, Sustainabloom, and NC STAR Network, leading a full website redesign for our longtime client North Carolina Community Foundation, and building a comprehensive digital hub for youth travel nonprofit Global Glimpse. We also launched multiple projects in the environmental website design space, several advocacy sites, and more. As always, it was a privilege to partner with each group and elevate their important causes.

B2B and B2C Website Design
Rooted in several large-scale projects, B2B and B2C website design also made up a notable portion of our work in 2024. We launched a sophisticated online ecosystem for equipment manufacturer CPM, designed an award-winning architecture and engineering site for McAdams, and worked with other organizations on strategies for reaching multiple target audiences and driving users to action.

Higher Education Website Design
Given our location in the Triangle, we often partner with local universities on various initiatives throughout the year. In 2024, we had the opportunity to work with Duke, UNC, and Yale on a handful of unique projects and higher education website designs.
We were particularly excited to launch a new website for the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media – alma mater for several NMC-ers – that combines information-rich layouts with playful brand graphics and colors. You can read the full case study on our site.
Other highlights included creating a dynamic interactive map for Yale and the World, building a custom cart platform to drive fundraising for GiveUNC, and creating a bright online presence for Duke-UNC Alzheimer's Disease Research Center.
Real Estate Website Design
In the real estate investment and management space, we partnered with four firms across the Carolinas and Florida. We created new sites for Beacon Ridge Capital Management, Morris Commercial, Trinity Capital Advisors, and Trinity Partners that highlight core services and helpfully integrate with platforms like LoopNet. Each site balances recognizable brand elements with clear navigation and strategic details.
Health Website Design
Carrying forward a theme from 2023, health was a recurring focus in our work this year. We built sister-sites Bayvrio and Bayvrio Pharmacy for our agency partners at Franklyn and led full design and build processes for Tarrytown Expocare Pharmacy and Trillium Health Resources. Working towards the goal of simplifying patient and provider experiences, the sites prioritize clear communication and provide easy pathways for taking a next step.
Law Firm Website Design
In the law firm website design category, we supported new and existing clients with website updates and marketing work. Defining projects included a redesign for our longtime partners at Hutchison, a new blog microsite – Wyrick Ventures – for Wyrick Robbins, and a fresh look for Texas Lawyers' Insurance Exchange.
Private Equity and Venture Capital
We launched three private equity and venture capital sites this year. For Frontier Growth, we led an in-depth discovery process that culminated in a polished new site that highlights core capabilities and partnerships. We also built Flare Capital Partners in partnership with Franklyn and Three Ships in collaboration with their in-house design team.
Annual Report Microsite Design
As we’ve written on our blog, microsites can be a helpful tool for sharing information about specific events and initiatives. This year, we launched two microsites for annual reports: IWMF - 2023 Impact Report and RTI - 2023 Annual Report. Both projects combined existing brand assets with animation and interactivity.
Other Websites Launched
And of course, there were many sites that fell outside of our core categories this year. We built a political transition site for governor-elect Josh Stein for NC, designed a content-rich resource hub for SBTDC, and created a modern thought leadership site for Ron Williams, among others.
