Don’t Let Your
Business Go Barefoot
For most service-oriented businesses, it’s all too
common to focus your expertise on your output rather
than your own systems and operations. As the saying
goes, the shoemaker’s children go barefoot.
Your business may often be the last to benefit from
your specialized skills and knowledge. This is the
designer who hasn’t revamped their own portfolio in
years, or the coach who put their own training plan
on the backburner. And we get it! You’re spending
valuable time pouring your talents into the work
that you’re doing for clients.
But there’s something to be said for reinvesting in
your business. When it’s difficult to find the time
to bring your expertise back to internal projects,
it can be helpful to find a partner who will add
perspective and help you move forward in the right
direction. That’s where our work sometimes comes in
– as a guide for those design or marketing projects
that help businesses continue to grow.
Last year, we had the opportunity to partner with Altitude
Design Office on a complete redesign of
their website. It’s rare that we get to work
alongside another team of designers, so this was a
fun and unique opportunity to collaborate and
leverage the best of our combined knowledge to
create an engaging online experience.
Considering Altitude’s focus on branded environments
and wayfinding design, we made sure that the site
included plenty of images from their portfolio of
work. Set against a minimalist dark background, the
colors and styles from the projects are able to
stand out individually without competing for a
user’s attention. Read on and explore the project in
our case study.
